  1. Projektleiter

Briefly on the schedule: management would like delivery at the end of the month. I know that's ambitious, but I see no room for maneuver there.

  2. Entwicklerin

I have to contradict you there, Tobias. If we squeeze all quality assurance in at the end, we'll be testing under time pressure — and the bugs that slip through then cost three times as much afterwards.

  3. Projektleiter

That's a valid argument. But what would your counter-model look like without us missing the deadline completely?

  4. Entwicklerin

My suggestion would be a staggered delivery: core functions at month's end, the remaining functions two weeks later. That way management could even start earlier with a pilot customer.

  5. Vertriebsleiter

From a sales perspective that would actually be attractive. A pilot customer who gets half of it earlier is an argument we've never had before.

  6. Projektleiter

And the customers who expect everything on day one? We made commitments that follow from the roadmap.

  7. Entwicklerin

Precisely why we should actively renegotiate the commitments instead of silently breaking them. Better an honest conversation with the customers than a delivery we have to pull back.

  8. Projektleiter

Suppose I take that upstairs — what guarantee do I give management that the second part really arrives two weeks later?

  9. Entwicklerin

I'll structure the testing so that the second part is already fully tested before the first one ships. We're not shifting the risk; we're reducing it.

  10. Vertriebsleiter

If engineering can carry that, I'd actually prefer the staggered variant. It gives me a foolproof success criterion for the pilot project.

  11. Projektleiter

Fine, then let's do it this way: next week I'll submit a decision paper based on your two models. Until then, everything continues as planned.

  12. Entwicklerin

Einverstanden.

Agreed. And if management rejects it, I'd like it minuted that we pointed out the risk.

«minutenprotokolliert» — recorded in the minutes; B2 workplace German loves such compounds.

  13. Projektleiter

That's fair and goes in the minutes. Thanks for staying firm — those are exactly the discussions we need.

  14. Vertriebsleiter

I see it the same way. Then let's turn to the budget — unfortunately it'll be less controversial there.
