So, folks, we finally have to decide where we're going in the summer. Everyone has researched a destination now — who starts?
- Jonas
Ich habe mir Norwegen angeschaut. Fjorde, Wandern, Mitternachtssonne.
I looked into Norway. Fjords, hiking, midnight sun. The catch: it's gotten quite expensive, especially rental cars.
- Leila
How expensive, roughly? We did say we wanted to stay at eight hundred euros per person.
- Jonas
The car alone was at nine hundred for the week. Plus hotels, plus flights — it'll be tight.
- Leila
My suggestion would be Portugal. I found accommodation that could please everyone: a small house with a kitchen, ten minutes from the beach.
- Miriam
Und was würde das kosten?
And what would that cost?
- Leila
Fürs Haus zahlen wir zusammen sechshundert, also pro Person zweihundert.
For the house we'd pay six hundred together, so two hundred per person. Flights start at one hundred fifty if we book early.
- Jonas
That already sounds considerably more relaxed. Is there also something there for me to hike, or is it a pure beach vacation?
- Leila
In the north there are coastal paths that are wonderful to hike — and the tides are spectacular. You'll get your money's worth.
«auf seine Kosten kommen» — to get one's money's worth — handy in every planning discussion.
- Miriam
What else should we watch out for? I don't want to end up in accommodation that looked completely different in the photos again.
- Leila
I read the reviews from the last two months; most were very positive. And cancellation is free up to two weeks before.
- Jonas
Agreed, if we have that in writing. Shall we book tomorrow evening so the prices don't rise?
- Miriam
Proposal: I'll book the house today with my card, you two transfer me your share by Friday. And Jonas will pick out the flights.
- Jonas
Abgemacht. Dann lautet der Beschluss: Portugal, Haus mit Küche, zwei Wochen im Juli. Prost darauf!
Deal. Then the decision reads: Portugal, house with kitchen, two weeks in July. Cheers to that!
- Leila
Prost!
Cheers! I'm already hugely looking forward to it — it'll be our best vacation in years.
